So this is the first Christmas alone, well, except for the kitty. I hate it hate it hate it. It’s only Monday, and I’m already sucking at this.

Many moons ago in the blogosphere there was a minor writer with the moniker “Bryan S.” who flew the flag of “Arguing with Signposts.” His politics were vaguely conservative, warblogger, humorist, cynic, libertarian. In short, he screwed all that up. So, you might say this is my attempt to set that stuff straight. The flag is flying again. But we’ve set a course that’s at odds with the haze of the last eight years. Onward!

I also think you are great, and Smudge is awesome. Now, I daily watch for new Smudge pictures. My advice is take a long walk today before Christmas eve, so being home tomorrow won’t seem as bad. Make a plan — great dinner, possibly good wine, books/movies and us on BJ. Also, you can email me any pictures of Smudge at anytime, and that will be like an additional present under my Christmas Tree (well actually I am jewish, so it is more of a Snowman Treeish kind of thing….)

AWS, I hear you. It’s a tough time of year for the newly-single. Look at that little girl, though. Look at how she loves you already. Yeah, it’s not going to stop the pain (I certainly know that), but everything feels a little better with a cat in your arms (except typing. As I type this, Raven is on my right forearm). Do something just for you, today. I bought a bunch of books full-price as my gift to me. Take care and keep checking in at BJ.
