The Arguing One

Many moons ago in the blogosphere there was a minor writer with the moniker “Bryan S.” who flew the flag of “Arguing with Signposts.” His politics were vaguely conservative, warblogger, humorist, cynic, libertarian. In short, he screwed all that up. So, you might say this is my attempt to set that stuff straight. The flag is flying again. But we’ve set a course that’s at odds with the haze of the last eight years. Onward!

Meacham Analogy Fail: Two of these things are not like each other

Meacham Analogy Fail: Two of these things are not like each other

When he’s not steering an American newsweekly into the path of an iceberg (as he did as editor of Newsweek), or playing the jester to Morning Ho Scarborough, Jon Meacham fancies himself something of a quasi-theologian/political pundit. So it is not surprising, and yet totally infuriating, that Meacham convinces the editors of the New York [...]

Pot, kettle – you know the drill

Jonah F-ing Goldberg: Frankly, I find Tim Noah to be a bore and a fairly nasty and humorless fellow. And he’s been whining about me ever since I called him a journalistic hall monitor years ago. Coming from the guy who wrote “Liberal Fascism,” that’s a little rich, but nobody accused rabid conservatives of self-awareness. via Roy Edroso

Really?? Sexism in pizzalandia

Really?? Sexism in pizzalandia

This weekend, I went with the little arguers to a certain chain pizza establishment to eat some alleged pizza and spend money in exchange for little tickets that would be used to purchase cheap plastic toys. While I was at this establishment (to protect the innocent, I will use a pseudonym for this establishment: Khuck-E-Kheese), I noticed [...]

Strike a blow!

Strike a blow!

Politically astute blog readers will know about tonight’s debate in Delaware between U.S. Senate candidate Chris Coons and certifiably insane anti-masturbation activist Christine O’Donnell. (see Wonkette liveblog here) I am urging all concerned citizens of Delaware to vote for Coons. To stand up for their rights. To strike a blow against creeping (creepy?) nanny-state government. And [...]

M to the O to the U to the Stache of Understandin’, Dawg

Myspace Glitter Graphics Anne Laurie at Balloon Juice highlights a smackdown of MC T Friedman (aka The Moustache of Understanding ™ ) and his “Radical Center” party by Tom Scocca at Slate. How did we get stuck with a suboptimal product like this? Clearly, it was because our corrupt duopoly refused to honor the desires of the [...]

Really? The Radical Center Party?

DougJ at Balloon Juice points out this latest absurdity from The Moustache of Understanding ™ about the prospects for a “Radical Center” third-party. Personally, I won’t be convinced until I see a party logo, with animal. I’m suggesting the following: Personalized Glitter Graphics

It gets better

A thread at Sadly, No! discussing the horrible tragedy of the death of a Rutgers University student featured a link to this YouTube Channel, a project by Dan Savage called “It Gets Better.” (more explanation here) Kudos to Savage for putting this together, and I hope many people take comfort from the hope message the project [...]
